HTML 5 and the death of Flash? Fri May 21 2010

There is a war between Microsoft, Adobe, and Apple that will undoubtedly shape the future of web deisgn for years to come. A lot of web designers (ourselves included) currently use flash for embedding movie clips, animation, and other media-rich applications. But with the advent of HTML 5 most if not all of these functions will be possible directly within the HTML framework. Because Apple is refusing to incorporate Flash in ipods, and now more recently in the ipad, the future of flash is beginning to look questionable. To keep ahead of trends, we are studying HTML 5 with a view to using it in the future as a possible replacement for flash that will work across browsers and not require any special plug-ins.
